Whether you want something temporary to use over a lengthy holiday, you want a cheap phone to use while you save up for a better one, or you just want a cheap, basic phone with some interesting goodies, the Huawei U7510 is a decent choice. It has a little bit of everything, though not everything is in the best of quality.

Appearance:

The Huawei U7510 is a very pretty phone. Encased in sturdy black plastic with chrome accents, it has a subtle sophistication that you don't find in a lot of budget phones. Its rubbery back makes it easy to hold as well as change the battery. It also fits comfortably in the palm, especially as its back curves outward ever so slightly. At 103g, however, it's rather big, so don't expect to cram this in your back pocket anytime soon.

Its 2.8 inch touchscreen is of the resistive type, but it's surprisingly simple to use as long as you're careful. Its user interface all around is fairly straightfoward, with just one homescreen and a wealth of social networking widgets that let you keep up with Twitter, Facebook, and others. There are no reports of sluggishness or bugs.

Sound:

Alas, the Huawei U7510 doesn't come with much in the way of sound. There's no 3.5 mm headphone jack, nor do you get an FM radio. However, the sound quality is fairly decent, though the headphones that come with the phone make tunes sound rather tinny indeed.

Camera:

Its 2 megapixel camera doesn't come with much, but its LED flash should be enough to add a bit of dimension to your shots. However, it's not strong enough to penetrate darker areas, which means that any attempts made to take pictures in anywhere but the brightest areas will result in them turning out noisy and distorted. However, if you're just looking for a phone that lets you snap the occasional photo while out with your friends, it may be enough for you.

Internet Connectivity:

The Huawei U7510 is fairly robust when it comes to internet connectivity, providing you with 3G HDSPA, GPRS, Bluetooth, and more. There's no wi-fi, unfortunately. However, it still possesses a decent browser and email client. Its resistive screen doesn't get much in the way when texting either.

Memory and Talk Time:

With 100MB, plus a microSD card, you should have a fairly decent amount of storage, though not as much as you would see in more expensive phones. Sadly, for a phone with so few features, its battery life is rather poor, giving you only 240 minutes of talk time and 380 hours of standby.

Verdict:

With so many budget phones on the market, it's easy to simply to with what's cheapest and settle with what few features you get. However, the Huawei U7510 allows you to enjoy a bit of quality for ridiculously low prices. While its lack of wi-fi, shoddy camera, and low battery may be turn offs for some, these shouldn't be enormous issues for those who plan on using the phone sparingly.

The Huawei U7510 is a good phone to get if you're in a tight budget. It doesn't sacrifice much features for cheapness and it has a good quality. You can save more by getting it on mobile phone deals online rather than buying it on the high streets.
