Need help with 3.15 PS3 Update?i updated my ps3 to 3.15 and ever since then it is not reading discs. i don't think its the ps3 because when my other one broke the disc wouldn't load either but the circle in the top right would stop spinning after a while. now it spins forever so i know its trying to read it but something is stopping it from doing it and i believe the update is stopping it. does someone now a fix to this problem or at least a way to downgrade the firmware?

Is the PS3 not reading all discs, or just one type? If it's not reading Blu-Ray or DVD, then there is probably dust in the lens and you should contact Sony to have it fixed. I don't think that the firmware is causing the problem, but if it is, there is no way for you to downgrade the firmware. Only solution would be for you to ask Sony to fix it.

Nope you would have to contact sony support for the PS3. A lot of users have reported problems with the update 3.15. Hopefully the next update would be able to fix all these problems that people are complaining about.

It isn't the update that's doing it. I think it is the PS3. I had to get a new one about 6 months ago because it stopped reading my blu-ray discs, but it would still play all my regular dvds. Try to see if it will play a DVD or a CD first. If it does, your blu-ray is gone. If it doesn't and it does the same thing, you need a new PS3.
The only way to downgrade the firmware is to restore your PS3 to default settings (under system settings in the XMB). Even then, there's no guarantee that it will work.

Many people have reported this issue with PS3 system software versions 3.00 and onward, especially with revision 1 PS3s. Some PC shops have found out that the system software is causing the Blu-Ray drive to spin the disc too quickly, burning out the drive. Sony, so far, seems to be denying that their system software is causing the problem; instead, they want you to pay $ 150 to get your PS3 repaired. There's a class-action lawsuit against Sony because of this problem.
Downgrading the firmware won't help -- your Blu-Ray drive is burned out.
This is keeping me from downloading new songs from the SingStar store. Oh well, their loss more than mine.
