Just visit the PSN site/store and you can download game demos from there, providing you have an internet connection. New content is available every Thursday.
If not try buying those gaming magazines that come with playable demos for the PS3

Yea if you go to the Playstation Store once you have signed into the Playstation Network you can download a buch of games for free

just go to the PSN store and find the demo that you woud like to dowload, and then under the network tab, there will be a section called "dowload management" after you start dowloading the file, this way, you can keep track of your dowload
