I hate the box but OBJECTIVELY...
THe PS 3 has blu-ray which is the next generation disc-based form of media. Having one to prepare for the coming times is never bad. it also means games load faster and have higher quality overall (visually).
The Ps 3 has internet support and doesn't cost anything to use unlike the box. It also has some incredibly powerful games on it and more coming out shortly (God of War will be remade entirely for the ps 3 hardware soon. ALL three games!).
The box is older and you can pirate for it easier. The ps 3 isn't cracked to let you play priated games yet so you have to buy the games for it. The box however FAILS (RROD) a lot, even with the Jasper it's 11-37% instead of the 50%~ it was before. It's also the "retard" console in the world's eyes since people tend to abuse the free headset to behave like complete c*nts. That aside, it's also inferior to the ps3 hardware wise, but it has more games than the ps 3 has at this moment...
Kinda a tie. I'd still take the Ps 3 though, simply because their online is free.

Maybe you should ask which is better. If you plan to buy one you should just buy one for their exclusive games like Xbox has Halo and Gears of War. PS3 has the Metal Gear Solid, Uncharted, and God of War. I like both.

Each has its own exclusive games and online capabilities. That said, the PS3 has free wifi, no fee to play online, blu ray player, games are stored on blu ray discs meaning they can hold more information (better graphics). The 360 has a more user friendly online, easier to use controller, and on the bad side can break down (never happened to me in 4 years).

well... I got a ps3 for christmas after my xbox broke when i got my ps3 i thought hey its not that much different but after a few days i loved it so much more.
+ you dont have to pay for xbox live
+ better graphics in my opinion
+ better layout and more features
- ps3 dont have dedicated servers other people host them for them but doesnt really matta
