What is the best free video capture device is for making ps3 videos?I'm trying to make ps3 videos that people can actually see but haven't found one yet. If there is a good free one, can someone tell me what it is and where i can get it? Thanks

For starters, you need some hardware. This is never free unless you know someone that has it already that can lend it to you.
The next issue is that of outputs. The PS3 can only output via the HDMI OR the AV, not both. This sucks as it would be easier to have the HDMI on the TV and the AV's connected to the computer. So if you wanted to capture the HDMI, you would need a HDMI capture card and these are still quite pricy. The next method would be with a basic capture card or device. I know that a lot of people recommend the Dazzle hardware and it seems reasonably priced. Another way is with a media recorder which you can connect to your PC, that way you record on the media recorder (some have a record button on the front for ease of use) and then move it to your PC for uploading.
I'm tempted to do it the most basic way of setting up a camcorder with firewire out. That way, I don't have to play around with the cables on the PS3, I don't have to buy any other hardware (I have an old Sony Digital Handycam and firewire ports on my PC)
The biggest question is of course quality, but if you are uploading to YouTube, you don't want a 3-12gb file of broadcast quality. Videos that I have done for YouTube have been done using Movie Maker but check out the opensource community at SourceForge.net
