Are they discontinuing the 80gb PS3's with backwards compatability?I was checking the PS3 wikipedia article, and they had two PS3 versions, both with NTSC region coding. I are they discontinuing the backwards compatability in the 80gb PS3's?

The 80gigs will soon be $ 399. they are doing away with the 40gig model and replacing it with the 80gig model.

You know the 40GB PS3 that they have out right now? They're basically doubling the harddrive, that's all.

Yes. They have practically (if not actually) discontinued the current 80GB model. In September, they are upgrading the 40GB model with an 80GB hard drive and a DualShock3 controller. At that point, it will be the only model Sony sells, and it will not have backward compatibility, since it is at its core a 40GB model.
