desperate help please on ps3 online setup?I am not opening my PS3 until christmas. My broadband is wireless and yes, it is connected to a modem. My ps3 did not come with a ethernet cable. So how do I set up the online for it. Do I have to take my modem upstairs and connect it to my PS3 with a ethernet cable??? or will the PS3 automatically detect my modem without a ethernet cable???

The regular PS3 system package comes with an ethernet cable. If you have wireless, you won't need this cable anyway. BUT... if you want to play online wirelessly, it's not good to have your wireless router and your PS3 on separate floors. You would need close to 100% signal so your game won't slow down. Yeah, having the router far away will work, but only with laptops when you are just surfing the web. But for online gaming on PS3, it won't. So make sure they are as close as possible.

You don't need the ethernet cable to set up your connection the ps3 can scan for wireless signals and you can go from there
