How do you capture the TV screen while making walkthroughs?

How do you capture the TV screen while making walkthroughs?I need help with this, and I've had instructions on how to do it by a friend, but the camera didn't record it.
I plugged the camera into my PS3 and it said "Connecting to USB," but when I clicked the record button, it wouldn't do anything, just said "Connected to USB."
Give me instructions, please?

you need a capture card, not a camera, buy a capture card at best buy if you want to do that

You need:
TV capture card (or USB device) for the computer
A PC or laptop to capture the video to
A video game system (like your PS3)

If you get a capture card, you plug it into a free slot in the computer, and directly hook in the video cables from the PS3 to the computer.
If it's a USB capture device, the USB connector end goes into the computer, and the other end you plug in the video cables from the PS3.

I got a capture device at a local electronics store for like 30 dollars. It even came with helpful instructions. Good luck!

There are several devices that exist for recording footage off of a composite video signal.

1. First up is the first "external" capture card that I used, and that device is the "Dazzle". I've been able to get some nice quality off of my brother's 360. Although there are much better external capture devices for high definition. If you've got a S-Video cable handy for your PS3 then you'll be able to capture much better video.

2. Second is the easy cap. I've personally never used this device, although it's VERY cheap and actually quite nice, here's a video with someone recording Halo 3 with easy cap http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6TgEVv4croM
