Is it possible to play ps1 iso on ps3?I dont have any of my ps1 games anymore but I would like to play some ps1 games on my ps3. Is there a way to somehow download them for free and then play them on my ps3?

The PS3 can not be modded, which means in order to play any game on it, PS3 or PS1 game, you must have the disc, or you must buy and download from the PSN Store.
Simple answer: No, you can not play .iso files on the PS3. You can not play pirated games on the PS3 since the PS3 can not be modded.

not yet. however there is a large modding community that has already begun making the necessary modifications to begin performing this task.
The ps3 can be modified to a degree as of now but it is an expensive process as you may lose your ps3 to a shoddy modder.
As illegal as it may be ps1 games are hard to find in physical form so digital is a better option. Best to probably get a cheap ps2 and get it modded to play everything from a hard drive - now that mod is indeed a fact - firmware mod.

The PS3 cannot be modded to play burned games or load ISO files. The PS3 has been partially hacked recently, but it was for programming-type things and not playing pirated material. And that hack requires ripping up your PS3 along with a little bit programming know how (its not as simple as slapping a mod chip on the motherboard, I can tell you that). The guy who did it claims that pirated game support would not be too far off and he claims that Sony can't make a firmware update to essentially prevent this, but its not like he provided any sort of useful, credible evidence to support these claims.

Any PS3 can play PS3 can play PS1 Games, if you want to dl them it will cost money, go to PS Store- games- PS One Classics for PS3/PSP, but there is no way to get them for free
