Need a review on the PS3 slim and I also have some questions about it?My old 60GB PS3 has gotten the YLOD three times, and I have fixed it three times, so I fear its on its last legs and it's time to move on to a new system
Please give me a review on it. Rate it however you like (1 to 10, 1 to five stars, 1 to four stars, etc.) and could you give me some pros and cons to the system compared to the old one.
Here are some questions I have on the system, and correct me if any of my questions are wrong:
Is it true that it no longer plays disk based PS1 and PS2 games? I know it can play the PS1 classics, but can it play the disks?
If the previous question is true, which I think it is, what is the purpose of the PS1/PS2 free format utility data (I think that's what its called) on the play station store? Will it allow me to play disk based PS1 and PS2 games?
maybe I was unclear, can you rate the ps3 slim please?

it is not worth following you tube fixes yes they work but they do not solve underlying fault so 3 - 6 months later it breaks again
always pay sony to fix yes it costs more but it works then you would not need to ask this question on here you would have a working system
sony is not willing to offer ps2 support imo because they are charging people to download ps2 content from them I would expect this to continue in the future and it would suit them as you can buy most ps2 games for a few quid instead of paying them real money for games

I would give it a 10 stars cons are you can't play ps2 games on the slim you can still ps1 games on the slim the original disk do work on the slim the utility data is basically used for ps3 games and other applications you download off psn and so on.

All PS3s can play PS1 games (with about the same level of compatibility the later PS2s had), but only the early ones with 4 USB ports can play PS2 games. No Slim models can.
That download allows for the creation of virtual PS1 and PS2 memory cards on the hard drive. Rather than creating separate firmware and OSes for each version PS3, they all use essentially the same one, so anything that might be useful to one version i downloadable on all versions. It just might not have everything else it needs to be useful.

10/10 because it's the same, if not better, as a fat ps3. There's no really cons, but some pros are:
- Smaller console
- Less noise when it's on
It can play PS1 disks. It's good to play such great classics (Final Fantasy, Metal Gear Solid, Crash Team Racing, A bug's life, Toy Story 2... lol)
It gets more money in Sony's pockets... instead of just using their old PS1 disks, users buy games on the PS Store.
