PLEASE SOMEONE HELP ME WITH MY PS3 UPDATE!?hi, well basically i need to update my ps3 to 3.55 to be able to play online, im getting black ops tommorow and need to have online working. i cannot update my ps3 via internet because it says error half way through the download and cancels. so now im trying to do it via usb.
ive created a folder in capitals called PS3
and another folder inside called UPDATE
and saved all the 3.55 update files into the UPDATE file
moved the whole PS3 folder onto my usb
plugged the usb in my ps3
clicked on update via storage media
and it asks if want to download update 3.41 which is the update i already have
i need 3.55 and ive already saved all of the files onto my USB
why cant i get the update? the usb stick shows up under the photos, movies and music catagorys on the ps3 menu as USB Device (Cruzer Micro) but says there are no saved files inside the usb
please someone help ive been trying for 2 days now to update my ps3 and i cant!!!!

Why dont you just get a sledgehammer and smash the ps3 and go out and discover the real world.

Ignore that dude below. He probably jelous because he cant afford BlackOps :) hmmmm not to sure :/ you could go to settings on the ps3 menu, and i think at the top it says update. Press "X" and check if there has been any recent updates. If nott, im not suree buddy. Sorry

Download the update to your PC !
Here's how:
Things you'll need:
PlayStation3 system
A wireless controller
A USB cable
A PC with Internet access
Storage media (Memory Stick, SD Memory Card, CompactFlash)* or a USB Mass Storage device such as a USB flash drive
(At least 168 MB of free space required)
* An appropriate USB adaptor (not included) is required to use storage media with some models.
Create a folder on the storage media in which to save the update data. Using a PC, create a folder named "PS3" on the storage media or USB device. Within the PS3 folder, create a folder named "UPDATE".
Download the update data and save it in the "UPDATE" folder created in step 1.
NOTE:
Be sure to save the update data as noted below. If the data is not saved in the correct way, the PS3 system will not recognize the update data. The folder name must be in all uppercase letters.
Location: Save in the "PS3" folder > "UPDATE" folder
File name: Save as file name "PS3UPDAT.PUP".
NOTE:
Do not turn off the PS3 system or remove the storage media or USB device during an update. If an update is cancelled before completion, the system software may become damaged, and the system may require servicing or exchange.
During an update, the power button on the system front and PS button of the controller are inactive.
Insert the storage media or USB device that contains the update data in the PS3 system.
From the home menu, select (Settings) > (System Update), and then press the "X" button.
Select [Update via Storage Media], and then press the "X" button.
The system automatically searches for and finds the update data saved on the storage media or USB device.
Start the update.
Press the "X" button to start the update. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.
Confirm that the update was successful.
After the update has been completed, go to (Settings) > (System Settings) > [System Information].
If the [System Software] field displays the version number of the update, the update was successful.
