ps3 8001050F issue im confused?i was reading on other sites about this and they said the reason slim PS3's arent affected is because of the other OS INSTALL option that they do not have and that my phat PS3 does have because about 22 weeks a hacker released an exploit that is used through the OTHER OS INSTALL and that other hackers have bypassed the BLURAY DISCS Protection and running illegal copies of movies and games on the PS3 and with this 8001050F outbreak they will release a new FIRMWARE that will erase the INSTALL OTHER OS OPTION and that it is not in any way related to a leap year bug.

No real way to know as the officials of sony PS have not yet disclosed why this problem exists.
The fact remains that everyone's date has changed back to 1/1/2000 right now.

is a error with Sony - happened as midnight came in the US apparently due to it being the end of February 2010 and being a leap year (sounds like Y2K) . Infiltrated systems when they were not even on and deletes trophies off some games and won't let you play - so far Uncharted 2, Heavy Rain, Modern Warfare 2 and FIFA 10 are ones I know about that will delete your trophies for that game - apparently will be sorted by tomorrow US Time so about Midday our time

It's not a virus or anything it's Just the main ps3 server has crashed, hopefully there's no overall data loss.
in the mean time you are unfortunately unable to play online/offline games that contain trophies, if you attempt to your trophy data will corrupt and delete itself so best not to try until a patch update is released.
time scale: this can't be estimated guessed or otherwise, sony WILL try to fix it today as they have alot of top games coming out soon and know how much risk they'll run if they fail to fix this problem.
When the patch update is available, you can assure youself that the ps3 itself will inform you to go to software update and update your system.
problems this error gives:
inability to run games offline/online that have trophies
inability to sign into netflix,Home, PSstore sign in, in general
inability to sign in to playstation.com on pc or ps3
clock will not set via internet (ps3 server)
clock and date can be set manually however the time does not save so once you turn the system off, the time will be wrong once it's back on again.
things that do work:
any non trophy or non-network based program ie. ps1/2 games
you can still Access store from psps and media go
majority if not all ps3 slims are not affected by this error.
sony will be working around the clock to fix this, they have been on the job now for almost 10 hours, so please be patient in the mean time.
NOTE: any trophy data lost or corrupt, will probably be restored when system is back online, dont go reformatting /rebuilding your hdd there is nothing wrong with it

Why do people keep saying it's a server issue..??
My ps3 hasn't been connected to the internet in a few months and still it gives the 8001050F error. If my ps3 has no link what so ever with any outside source (except for my tv) how can it be affected by a server issue..?? right, it can't, so it's not a server issue. :)
