Will the PS2 version of "Tomb Raider Anniversary" work on the PS3?I understand that some models of the PS3 are not capable of playing PS2 games. I like the "Tomb Raider" Series and particularly liked "Tomb Raider Anniversary" Is there any way to play this on the PS3? Which models can I play it on? Will the 80GB model play this game? Any chance this game gets ported for the PS3? Has anyone played this PS2 game on their PS3?

yes. the 60, 80, and 160gb will play any ps2 games. only the 20, 40 gb wont.

The most reliable ps3 to play a ps2 game would be the 60gb version. It can play like every ps2 game were as the 80gb wont play ps2 games as much. The 40gb wont play ps2 games at all, so it depends which version you have.

It works on my ps3 cause my ps3 is a CECHA.
All ps3's have a model number that goes "CECH" then a letter then two numbers. The letter after CECH is what matters.
CECH A or B: all ps2 games.
CECH C or E: 4 out of 5 ps2 games.
CECH G, H, K, P: nothing.
I haven't played tomb raider on my ps3, but I have played all 30 + of my ps2 games on it, and the only thing that ever didn't work was I couldn't run non-dedicated servers on star wars battlefront 1.
If it's an old game, it isn't likely to be ported to ps3. I thought I heard about a new Tomb Raider title coming up though... it would make sense, all they do for the current generation is make remakes of old series. Resident Evil 5 million, Halo 3000, Final Fantasy Infinity...

there are 2 versions of 80GB. If you got yours after Aug 2008, then it's not B/C with PS2. The model that plays PS2 is CECHE0#.. where # can be any number.

The 60GB would be your best bet, as it plays all of the PS2 games.
