Does the new ps3 slim 120gb play ps1 and ps2 games?I heard only the first made ps3's played the ps1 and 2 games and that the new ps3 slim only plays ps3 games is this true, if so is there anywhere i can buy the old ps3 brand new?

No it does not. You'd have to buy the old one. The backwards compatible ones are not being made by Sony anymore. Your best bet is craigslist or eBay for around 300. Hope this answers your question and i hope i gave you the best answer.

I'm pretty sure all the PS3's are backwards compatible with the PS1 and PS2 games.

on the Playstation website they list the model number of which PS3's are able to play ps1 and 2 games (which are the older model) and u can buy the older model from the playstation site, im sure gaming stores still have in stock somewhere. worse case scenerio just buy a ps1, 2, and 3, i heard u can get the ps3 promotional slim for 200, a ps2 is 100, a used ps1 might be 50.

All PS3s will play PS1 games. That includes the Slim.
The 20 GB, 60 GB, and 80 GB bundle plays PS2 games.
Online is the only place to go if you really want a new one. Try websites like www.amazon.com, www.half.com., and www.ebay.com. These consoles have not been in stores for over 2 years, however, so be prepared to pay a good $ 450 or possibly even more than that if you want a new one that plays PS2 games.
