i just got done reading a review online about the ps3 slim regarding charging the controllers?the review said that you have to have the system running in order for the controllers to charge???????? and that you cant have the system off while charging them.......... is this true??????????????????? can u charge the controllers when the system is off on the other ps3 models??? like 80 gig fatty or 40 gig fatty

No you can't charge the controllers with the system Off on any version of the PS3 system. Wish they added it on the Slim.

No you can not on any Ps3 model. Maybe this can be solved from a later firmware update im not to sure.
You can charge it via usb on your PC or laptop but I believe those also have to be on.
