Ps3 Slim can't install OS linux that's a CONS why it means it's powerless? or 45nm CPU? is that why?I read reporter reviews and the main thing missing is to ability to install OS does it mean PS3 Slim is 2.4 GHz? not 3.2 GHz? and getting a PS3 Slim a wise choice or getting 60GB PS3 is more wiser than the new one? what else the difference? beside of loosing it's weight and size?

lol. it wouldnt make any sense at all the downgrade the processor.
The ps3 slim is EXACTLY the same as the 80/160gb ps3's. The only difference is the different size and the lack of Install Other OS feature.
This feature may have been taken out to decrease the size of the ps3's OS and maybe even free up a tiny bit of memory. Or sony could have either forgotten to put it in, or taken it out for any other reason.

I don't think buying the PS3 Slim right now is a wise idea simply because we don't know how reliable it will be in the consumer's hands just yet. I would wait several months and gauge the reaction.
The Slim uses 34% less power than the newer ones and the 45 nm chips is probably the reason why. If you're gonna get a PS3 right now, just get a Fatboy. 80 GB is also $ 299 and the 160 GB bundle is a steal at $ 399. 60 GB aren't sold in stores and most will be used or refurbished at $ 400. New ones will be even more than that and is not worth paying that much for an old PS3 model.
They probably removed the Other OS because a lot of people don't end up using it and installing Linux isn't exactly user friendly to a lot of people.
