As far as I know, Yellow Dog Linux on the PS3 can do almost everything that you would normally do on a full fledged Windows PC. Its a good idea go get a keyboard and mouse though since the PS3 doesn't come with one and the latest version of Linux supports the Sixaxis contoller.
